Core aspects of anti-corruption agencies
Purpose of the Practitioners‘ Course
This self-paced course is based on the UNDP publication Practitioners’ guide: Capacity Assessments of Anti-Corruption Agencies (UNDP 2011), designed for use by senior officials working in anti-corruption agencies (ACAs) and UNDP Country Offices and other anti-corruption practitioners. It provides users a tool to assess the existing capacities of a target ACA, in order to see what is required to fulfill the ACA’s mandate. This requires a careful assessment of many factors. This course includes additional references to literature and case studies for further learning.
The results from the ACAs capacity assessment provide the basis for developing and implementing a comprehensive capacity development plan, thereby linking analysis with action. This Capacity Development Plan is an integrated set of sequenced actions designed to address the capacity development needs of a given ACA. The specific indicators and benchmarks established during the assessment serve as a foundation for subsequent monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of the Capacity Development Plan.
