INCREASING TRANSPARENCY
Access to Information and Transparency Laws
Freedom of/right to information laws enable people to protect their rights (for example, to access services like water and sanitation), live with more openness, and be informed participants in decision-making processes, and can be used by the public to guard against abuses, mismanagement and corruption in government.
In addition, some governments are adopting transparency laws that facilitate pro-active sharing of information to the public, including Brazil, India, South Africa, and The Philippines.
