Design and implementation of mitigation plans (anti-corruption tools and measures)

Good governance mechanisms (non-healthcare specific)

Additional generic approaches, commonly referred to as “mechanisms,” further enhance good governance. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Decentralization
  • Policy-making that empowers diverse stakeholders
  • Enhanced community engagement
  • Strengthened social capital

UN Photo/Mark Garten. - A recent review of literature (Vian 2014) has shown a positive association between the governance mechanisms listed above and health outcomes. Because this course focuses on health-sector-specific tools and policies, it does not cover generic approaches. Please refer to the study quoted for more information.
