Seven Deadly Sins

Anti-corruption institutions are numerous and growing, fueled by international treaties requiring state parties to establish such institutions. At the same time, reviews of these institutions indicate more failures than successes. Analysts have identified various reasons why initiatives to administer specialized anti-corruption institutions often fail. While the reasons differ in depth and length, they generally refer to a list of political, economic, governance, legal, organizational, performance and public confidence factors, also known as the “Seven Deadly Sins”.
