Enabling factors for project implementation
The project benefited from the technical knowledge and expertise of national stakeholders, such as CEDARENA (a Costa Rican NGO specialized in legal technical assistance on environmental issues), recognized for its support to environmental movements and organizations. Women and youth were also engaged in the project design, which empowered them and ensured the project’s sustainability. Finally, a collaboration with the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) was pivotal in raising national and international awareness about corruption in the water sector in Costa Rica.
