COSTA RICA
Case study 1

Key outcomes of the initiative

1. So far, the project has identified corruption risks and developed corruption risk plans in thirty seven (37) ASADAs. This was achieved through pilot capacity development and training programs for two ASADAs (San Ramón and Tamarindo), focusing on women and youth in leadership positions on management boards. Over 50 women and young people participated in the training events.

2. A Manual of Transparency and Accountability of ASADAs was developed for training purposes. The project has also produced knowledge tools to replicate the capacity development process of the ASADAs at a sub-national and national level. Finally, a monitoring and evaluation system for the financial and organizational performance of the ASADAs was developed and validated with national governing entities of the water sector in Costa Rica.
