Progress achieved

Within municipalities, water management capacity and transparency was strengthened at all levels. Since the initiative started, meetings between UNDP-CO and regional officers have provided officers with tools and technical advice on how to approach transparency and accountability when managing water at the local level. In addition, support from the UNDP regional office enabled one officer to participate in a “Training for trainers’ course on Transparency and Integrity on Water Management for Latin America” in Brazil in April 2014.

In Meanguera (AMNM), training sessions have been organized with Water Management Bodies to strengthen transparency and accountability when managing water, and a “Transparency and Integrity on Water Management workshop” will be led by AMNM in October to train two other micro regions and relevant stakeholders.
