Progress achieved
At the municipal and micro-regional levels, Surveillance Committees were created to enforce transparency. In MRNODEMO, a Micro Regional Transparency Committee was established to focus on finding ways to include transparency and accountability in the planning, design and implementation of water management policies on a micro regional level. Committee members include mayors and health, education and environmental officers, and the micro regional officer in each municipality.
The committee is being used as an example for other Water Administration Bodies.
In MANORSAM, the Micro Regional Transparency Committee was well received; the social audit mechanism will be established during the next reporting period. In AMNM, the formation of Surveillance Committees and the Micro Regional Transparency Committee has not yet been explored, and establishing these mechanisms remains a challenge.
