Monitoring & Evaluation of mitigation plans

Monitoring is a continuous function that aims to provide early indicators of progress, or the lack thereof, in the achievement of results. The information gathered helps to track progress, facilitates decision making, ensures accountability and provides a basis for evaluation (which aims to determine the relevance and fulfilment of the set objectives and the efficiency, effectiveness, impact and sustainability of the progress). Monitoring is also needed to see whether the process goes according to budgetary requirements (cewas & WIN, 2013).
