Summary of the project

The Torola River Basin’s three micro regions have important economic and social development potential, and their natural water resources must be managed in a responsible, sustainable way. The society has come together to establish a common vision in the conservation and sustained management of natural resources—and especially of water, which promotes the development for people living in the river basin. River basin water resources are managed by Communitarian Associations, or Water Boards (hereinafter referred to as “Water Administration Bodies”), though in some cases the water is not managed by any administrative body. Such fragmentation and lack of management fosters a lack of accountability in water service provision and management.
