For ACAs, integrity promotion is an essential function of corruption prevention. In this sense, article 6 of the UNCAC explicitly identifies “increasing and disseminating knowledge on the prevention of corruption” as a key corruption prevention function. ACAs are nearly always mandated with this responsibility. Increasing and disseminating knowledge may be understood as two separate functions:
Increasing knowledge
May be interpreted as generating and/or producing knowledge, which is arguably already covered in other functions: anti-corruption policy formulation and implementation, research on corruption and corruption vulnerabilities.
