Data analytics
Particularly in the area of procurement fraud, data analytics provides investigators an opportunity to examine various electronic databases held by government. They can, for example, compare a department or ministry’s personnel database against its supplier database to check for indications of conflicts of interest by way of public sector employees having interests in, or receiving benefits from, entities providing service to government (see also the illustrations in Box 17).
